Severe Water Shortage Hits Texas

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, 77 of the 254 counties in Texas are in extreme or exceptional drought, the most severe categories.
Hundreds of public water agencies have instituted mandatory water restrictions.
Among the most seriously affected reservoirs are Lake Travis and Lake Buchanan near Austin, which provide water for more than one million people.
The city of San Antonio is enduring its driest 23-month period since weather data was first recorded in 1885.
